Cultural festival

"I'm gonna throw up" whispered Isabell, standing backstage for 10 minutes was nerve racking not to mention we were performing in front of 1 thousand people. Then out of nowhere they annoyed our school, by a matter of seconds I found myself standing directly towards the audience. After all the songs and the haka we were walking down the stairs, it was the most fastest 8 minutes of my life. We got to our seats and watched the performances, but all I could think about was if the camera zoomed in on my face. Overall it was an amazing night I'll never forget it luckily I'll have the DVD forever.

Manu tukutuku.

We are making a Manu tukutuku for the cultural festival.
First we had to research about our country and choose a pattern to put on our feather. We then transferred it onto our fabric feather and coloured it in an stapled them onto our bird.

Tessellations

A tessellation is a repeating pattern that can rotate and it has no gaps.

The shapes I have used to tessellate are triangles.

My shapes have been tessellated by reflecting.

Do you support tourism in Antarctica?

Some people believe that tourism should be allowed, while other people disagree. This statement will help you decide weather your are for or against tourism in Antarctica.

Firstly one of the amazing unique features of this hidden gem is the breathtaking wildlife,in Antarctica there are a lot of eye catching animals, from whales and seals to orca and penguins. Many people come to Antarctica for many reasons, mostly for spotting unique animals and amazing scenery.

Another amazing feature is the scenery, in Antarctica you can see glaciers, mountains and of course the breathtaking southern lights. At night it is one of the most extrudanary light shows in the world, colours of green, blue and yellow bursting out of the sky are amazing.

However pollution in Antarctica is one of many downsides with tourism. Damaging this continent could lead to ocean wildlife disappearing, leaving land animals with no food to raise there young. If tourists keep coming to Antarctica in the future will end up becoming a polluted floated waste.

If tourists visit Antarctica one of the bad things that will happen is frostbite. Frostbite is when your fingers of toes turn black and you would have to amputate them. That would mean if you wanted to go to Antarctica you would have to bring the right equipment and gear. This is an amazing continent but it can be a dangerous spot, so watch out!

In conclusion I believe that tourism should not be allowed in Antarctica because of the pollution and the wildlife. I hope this statement has helped you understand tourism in Antarctica and what it can cause if polluting this amazing continent. What would you do if you we're the cause of polluting Antarctica.

My awesome Tibetan flag

My flag symbolises dream big the sky's the limit, and you can have more than one dream.

The best part about my design is the colour I like the bright blue, It makes the words stand out.

I would change the writing, at the end it is downhill.

Term 1 goal reflections

Literacy-To learn to use commas with confidence
I achieved this goal because I looked back at my work, asked a friend for help and reading my work out loud to myself.

Maths- To learn my 4,7 and 8 times tables
I have to still learn my 8 times tables but the rest I have almost learnt every single one, to help me I have practiced at home, learnt different ways to count and found easy way that suit me.

My special goal- I will be more focused when we change from one task to another
I have archived this goal because I practiced at home with instructions, reminded myself from time to time and look and listen more to instructions outside and in class. :)

Fundraising for plants

Today was day 4 of our inquiry,we got to choose groups to plan our school garden. I was in the fundraising group that means I am in charge of getting the money to buy the plants. First we put all our ideas on paper we made them step by step. Our step was plan it,firstly that meant we were planning where, when, who, what and why so gave us a good understanding of our plan. We made the steps so that when we do fundraise we have a check list to know what comes next. Our group will be good at fundraising because we have got a lot of amazing ideas and we've sorted out our plan,at this rate our garden will look colourful and beautiful.

First day

When I was five years old I came for my first day at Burnham School, it was scary at the time but when I walked in I realised it was a really small school well that's what mum said, but because I was really small it was massive. My first teacher was Mrs Burlinson. She was a very nice teacher especially when it came to trying our best. My first friend I ever made was Sophie I thought I would play with her considering she has the same name as me. When it came to play time I made a lot of new friends. Everyone was so nice to me,when the bell rang everyone ran inside. I didn't know what'll the bell ment so I was standing in the middle of the field wondering where everybody went. But surprisingly I saw a teacher outside I didn't know what to do,so

After a year dad got another letter saying we had to move to Christchurch and that's where the story started, because I am the only child I made a lot of imaginary friends but when I got to school I was fine. My friends are Sophie,Isabell,Breanna,Dominic and Thomas, my favourite food is subway and pork ribs, my favourite colour is PURPLE my favourite music is anything that's catchy and I play centre for netball and my nickname is s.a.m or Elmo. I am very artistic I love to do as much art as possible, I do art every single day and people comment a lot, I think the most big event in my life would be last year on  march 24 2012 me and my dad just drooped of mum for a softball prize giving me and dad were hedding back home but then on the main highway a 50 year old guy had a secheasher in his car and crossed the centre line and had a head on with me and dad in our car lucky air bags and seat beasts made us survive dad had a broken sternam Which is in the chest and I just had brusing we were very lucky. I think I would want to be a dog handler when I grow up, its a job for airports when dogs such as beagles sniff out illegal dugs or anything that can't be in our country, my plan b or in my spare time would be a artist I love drawing and painting and I would like to do more. I'm looking ford to high school and I can't wait to see what's ahead :)
